Visual Arts

At our school, the Visual Arts program provides students with a rich, hands-on and nurturing creative experience across the seven key areas of art: drawing, printing, painting, modelling, collage, construction, and threads and textiles. Students gain confidence and pride in their artistic abilities as they work with a variety of materials and techniques, learning how to use the Elements and Principles of Art to plan, refine, and create thoughtful and engaging artwork.

Students also explore a range of artist studies, including Indigenous Australian artists, which helps them understand art within a broader cultural context. They learn to recognise and appreciate different genres—such as portrait, landscape, and still life—and see how artists communicate stories and ideas through their work. Outstanding student work is celebrated throughout the year, with selected pieces displayed and gifted students recognised through our Talented Artist certificate. This approach encourages creativity, enjoyment in expressing themselves through visual art, skill development, and a lasting appreciation for the visual arts.
