The Arts – Music

At Patterson Lakes Primary School, our music program provides students with rich and engaging learning experiences where musical expression and creativity are central. Students explore a range of musical concepts and theory through singing, listening, movement, and playing a variety of instruments, building confidence and musical understanding.

In the upper years, particularly in Years 5 and 6, students create, compose, and refine music using digital technologies and online programs such as Soundtrap. These experiences encourage experimentation, creativity, and an understanding of how music can be created, recorded, and shared.
Music at Patterson Lakes is celebrated through a range of performance opportunities. A biannual Christmas concert provides students with the opportunity to perform for families and the school community. Every second year, students participate in a whole-school music production, where classes showcase their learning for invited families and friends.

The music program also plays an important role in school life and community connection. Patto’s Got Talent brings together music and the House System, celebrating student talent and school spirit. Our Choir rehearses and performs throughout the year, including visits to local Community Centres, sharing the joy of music beyond the classroom.
